This City and Guilds level one accredited course will equip you with the basic skills and knowledge that are essential to succeed in the Gardening / Amenity Horticulture sector. This qualification will also help you build on your existing gardening and horticultural abilities gained on the introduction to horticulture course. The qualification will provide with underpinning knowledge and skills specific to the sector alongside a range of transferable employability skills. It will support you to progress to further learning and ultimately to work in the land-based or other related sectors. Entry Requirements You will need English and Maths at Entry Level 3. What will this course cover? Your tutor will help you to set your own, individual learning goals that will support you towards achieving your qualification/course aims. During the course you will cover: - Health and safety in a land-based workplace - Plant propagation - How to identify a range of plants - Garden Maintenance tasks, and how and when they should be carried out - Tools and equipment used for garden maintenance and the correct ways to use them - Disposing of garden waste responsibly - Where you could progress onto next What could I do next? You could apply for a job in horticulture. The job would be likely to be supervised and may include some level of responsibility. The job could involve you working in a team and on your own.
